  • Ad Mob not working for you ?

    This was scary to see.

I am now the owner of a smartphone (no big deal there.)

But, being an advertiser/marketer I look at my “toys/tools” differently.

This horrified me. (free time surfing at 30,000 feet can teach you something)

Especially, since I have run mobile traffic and gotten mixed results.

    This maybe one reason why.

    REVERSE

That’s the button that looks like a “bent-back” arrow. It is what you press when you didnt mean to go there.

I have seen on many apps and sites. The ads placed in a way that if you try to navigate to the next ‘slide’ or ‘item’ you will hit the ad.

What most do and I do to. IsĀ  press the REVERESE key BEFORE WE EVER SEE WHAT THE AD WAS!

I found myself and my big fingers doing this countless times. NOT on purpose, but because I “oppsed” (Doh!)

Now, I know that everytime I did that. That poor advertiser was getting charged a click.

Not really click fraud (though I can see how someone could do that), but compared to the other CPC platforms. When a user clicks on your ad. THEY MEAN TO!

So, if you are not seeing the ROI and EPC that you are used to in mobile. This maybe an effect you want to be aware of.

And it is not JUST apps. I have seen this in site placement too. Ads placed RIGHT where you have to press to navigate.

Great for the platform. NOT so great for the advertiser.

    And now you know.

I am still getting on top of everything after a fantastic week in NYC for Ad:Tech 2010 New York City

    So, much happened.

    Contacts.

    Parties.

    Deals.

    New Traffic Sources.

    New Networks.

    Old friends re-acquainted with.

    New friends and contacts made.

To keep it easier to digest. I will post separate posts for each subject matter. Easier to find in the future and read now.

All those who have not made it to New York for fun or business.

    I highly recommend it.

Yes, its loud. Yes, its busy and Yes, hotel’s and food can be expensive (more the hotels than the food)

    BUT!

NYC has really cleaned up in the 15yrs I have been there and you owe it yourself to get a “bite of the Apple.”

A shout out to all my NYC peeps. I wont embarrass you by naming you here (that’s for FB.) :P

Without you. It would have been another “stranger in a strange land.”

    Thanks for Everything and MORE!

    Still… Trust No ONE!
